Uddhav Thackeray, the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, on Thursday pressed the Centre to promptly enact the 2023 Act that allocates 33 percent of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies to women.

He urged that the constituency delimitation process be postponed, stressing its significance as a matter of national interest requiring further dialogue.

Thackeray's statement was timely, with Parliament engaging in a debate on the Women's Reservation Act, including proposed bills for its enactment by 2029.
