Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Friday expressed his deep disappointment over Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's 'magician' jibe during a Lok Sabha debate. Paswan accused Gandhi of lowering the dignity of his esteemed position by turning important discussions into a source of comedic relief, suggesting he is unfit for the role if this continues.
Gandhi's remarks, made amid a debate over the government's bills to implement a women's quota from 2029, drew strong objections from the treasury. Speaker Om Birla highlighted the need to adhere to parliamentary decorum, while Gandhi accused the government of anti-national acts, further intensifying the debate.
While many criticized Gandhi's remarks, Congress members defended him. Congress MP Jebi Mather emphasized Gandhi's right as LoP to critique the government's failures, asserting he won't apologize for speaking the truth. The comments have sparked a fresh round of controversy in the heated political climate.
