In a bold address at a poll rally in Baharampur, TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee challenged opposition figures, including Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, to forgo their central security if they are genuinely fighting for public rights. Banerjee directed his challenge toward expelled TMC member Humayun Kabir and ISF leader Nawsad Siddique, urging them to pledge their allegiance to the people's cause by dropping their security details.

Banerjee further raised suspicions of a covert agreement between Adhir Chowdhury and the central government, given that Chowdhury continues to occupy his Delhi residence despite losing his MP status. The TMC leader questioned any hidden motives behind the lack of action from Prime Minister Modi's administration and recounted his personal tussles with central investigative agencies.

Amid allegations of corruption and hooliganism against Chowdhury's past syndicates, Banerjee appealed to CPI (M) supporters in Baharampur, questioning their electoral choice in the upcoming state elections. As West Bengal braces for the first phase of voting on April 23, characterized by its diverse constituency makeup, the rivalry intensifies between TMC seeking a consecutive fourth term and a formidable BJP challenge.
