Govt to transfer 50.76 acres land to Chandigarh's PGIMER

The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposal for transfer of 50.76 acres of land at Sarangpur to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. "This will benefit in screening OPD patients, triaging the patients and managing them optimally. Cancer management research and palliative care would be provided under one roof besides setting up of Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and Multi Level Parking," an official statement said after the Union Cabinet met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The setting up of New OPD, Shifting of Trauma Centre, Cancer Care, and LRC, the waiting time for surgeries will decrease for the common man and the emergency services will be available in an efficient manner. This will benefit the poor patients attending the PGIMER, Chandigarh. Health services and tertiary care will be more effective, the statement added.
