China's top diplomat, Wang Yi, visited Myanmar's capital on Saturday, meeting with the leader of its military-backed government. The visit, part of a regional tour, aimed to bolster Beijing's political, security, and strategic ties in Southeast Asia.

State-run MRTV reported that Wang and Min Aung Hlaing discussed enhancing Myanmar's international relations and cooperation within the ASEAN framework following the contentious elections that critics claim were manipulated.

China, Myanmar's largest trading partner and a key ally, has significant geopolitical and economic interests in the country. The two sides exchanged views on issues including border stability and internal peace efforts, amidst China's influential role in regional diplomacy.
