The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a petition that sought the registration of an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over a statement made in 2025. Justice Vikram D Chauhan issued the order following a detailed hearing of the case.
This legal move was spearheaded by Simran Gupta, a member of the right-wing group Hindu Shakti Dal, who contested a Sambhal court's earlier decision not to file an FIR against Gandhi. Gupta argued that Gandhi's remarks, made during the inauguration of a Congress Committee office, were incendiary.
According to Gupta, the comments amounted to sedition and were intended to destabilize the nation. After considering arguments from both the petitioner and the state, Justice Chauhan reserved his order on April 8, before ultimately dismissing the case.
