The recent hike in LPG prices has stirred significant public and political outrage in India. CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan criticized the central government's failure to protect India from the West Asia conflict's impact, which resulted in increased commercial LPG cylinder prices.
Govindan accused the government of creating policies that benefit industrial monopolists while neglecting the populace. He predicted widespread protests across the nation, as the government continues to favor capitalist forces under the guise of war.
Further condemnation came from AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, who labeled the price hike as extremely harmful and a betrayal following state Assembly elections. He demanded a rollback of the increase and suggested it might foreshadow hikes in other petroleum products, all amidst the public's ongoing struggle with inflation.
