Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak declared on Saturday that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers are rallying behind the widespread "anger of women" across the state. He claimed this frustration has been stifled by the opposition parties, primarily targeting Congress and the Samajwadi Party.
Pathak stated during a media interaction that nearly half of the state's population is unitedly unveiling the strategies of both opposition parties, especially concerning the Women's Reservation Bill. This revelation comes as the BJP prepares to launch its 'Nari Akrosh Yatra' across Uttar Pradesh, an initiative underscoring the women's grievances.
The announcement follows a special Uttar Pradesh Assembly session where a censure motion against opposition parties was passed. The heated debate saw BJP and opposition members clash over the Women's Reservation Amendment Bill, which did not pass in a recent Lok Sabha session due to opposition resistance.
In a counterattack, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his "chameleon" remark, accusing the BJP of frequently shifting its positions. Meanwhile, Opposition Leader SP MLA Mata Prasad Pandey accused BJP leaders of misleading presentations during the assembly’s special session.
