On a tense Monday morning in West Bengal, TMC candidate and incumbent state minister Shashi Panja raised concerns over delays at the vote counting centres. Panja alleged that poll personnel were hindering the entry of authorized political party agents, attributing the confusion to a lack of familiarity with the arrangements.

The counting process is crucial, as it will determine whether the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC will secure a fourth consecutive term or if the BJP will make history by forming its first government in the state. The counting commenced at 8 am across 77 centres in 23 districts, covering 293 of the 294 assembly segments.

Amid a multi-layered security setup, the fate of 2,926 candidates hangs in the balance. Panja expressed concern that delays at the entry gates could jeopardize the transparency and efficiency of the counting process in the high-stakes assembly elections.
