As the counting for the West Bengal Assembly elections progresses, BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari has expressed optimism regarding his party's standing. Adhikari, contesting from both Nandigram and Bhabanipur, noted that initial trends reveal the BJP leading in more than 130 seats, while the Trinamool Congress trails with approximately 100.

In Bhabanipur, Adhikari acknowledged that the contest may start close, particularly in early rounds dominated by Muslim-majority booths. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful about surpassing the TMC after subsequent rounds, buoyed by a perceived consolidation of Hindu votes in favor of the BJP.

Adhikari further highlighted a shift in the voting patterns within the Muslim communities, with votes diverging from TMC to other parties. He attributes the BJP's unexpected performance in Nandigram's Muslim booths to anti-incumbency sentiment and support for BJP's agenda under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.

A close contest has unfolded between the BJP and TMC with both parties showing leads in around 112 seats each, based on early trends. Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, the DMK holds a slight lead over the AIADMK-led alliance.
