In a dramatic turn of events at Noapara's counting centre, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Arjun Singh raised serious allegations of procedural irregularities. Singh accused officials of opening the strong room, which stores crucial election materials, without the presence of candidates or their authorized agents.
Speaking to reporters, Singh lashed out at the process, describing it as an "attempt to commit fraud." Asserting that neither the candidate nor the election agent was present when the announcements were made, Singh vowed quick action, stating the party will lodge an immediate complaint with the election observer.
The counting process comes amid heightened security as the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 results unfold. Early trends reflect a neck-and-neck battle between BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress, with BJP holding a slight lead. In contrast, the 2021 elections saw the Trinamool Congress secure a sweeping victory under Mamata Banerjee's leadership.
