The ruling NDA has taken a significant lead in Assam's assembly elections, securing a lead in 87 seats, while the Congress lags behind with 21 seats, as per the Election Commission's latest reports.
The BJP is leading the charge with 71 seats, with its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF), ahead in seven and nine seats, respectively. Meanwhile, Congress's ally, the Assam Jatiya Parishad, and Raijor Dal are leading in one seat each.
Notable leaders such as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are leading in their constituencies, while the counting of votes continues across multiple centers. The election witnessed a record turnout on April 9, with 85.96% of voters casting their ballots.
