The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to form the government in Assam for the third straight term, leading in 99 of the 126 assembly constituencies, according to the latest trends released by the Election Commission. The BJP is a forerunner in 80 seats, while coalition partners Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF) have made strong inroads, leading in nine and 10 seats respectively.

Amid this, the Congress party is ahead in 23 seats, with its ally Raijor Dal leading in two. Assam's current Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, maintains a lead in the Jalukbari constituency. Key figures from the opposition, such as Gaurav Gogoi and Debabrata Saikia, face challenges from BJP rivals.

The election process began with voter turnout at 85.96%, a single-phase polling event that decided the fate of 722 candidates. Counting takes place at 40 centers across 35 districts, with multi-center counting in districts like Nagaon and Kokrajhar. As the counting proceeds, the NDA edges closer to governance in Assam's political landscape.
