As the United Democratic Front (UDF) edges towards a sweeping victory in Keralam, senior Congress leader VD Satheesan expressed his gratitude to the state's citizens on Monday. Satheesan announced that he has successfully fulfilled his pledge to restore UDF's dominance, acknowledging the vigorous campaigns led by Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.
"We extend our heartfelt thanks to the people for the overwhelming victory accorded to Team UDF," Satheesan stated during a press briefing. "Special gratitude to Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and others for their determined efforts across Keralam. Upon taking office as opposition leader, I vowed to reinstate UDF's strength with a decisive win," he added. Meanwhile, Congress MP K Suresh projected that the party is likely to surpass the 100-seat milestone as counting continues for the 2026 Keralam Assembly elections.
In a conversation with ANI, Suresh commented that while final numbers are pending, the ongoing counting signals promising results. "We're crossing the 100 mark. Final results are pending," he remarked. Following the outcome, newly elected MLAs will gather in Thiruvananthapuram for a Legislature Party meeting to strategize further. The Congress-led UDF has overtaken the majority mark in the 140-seat Assembly, surpassing the Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). This verdict is widely perceived as a rejection of LDF's decade-long rule, reflecting growing anti-incumbency sentiments.
