The ruling NDA has clinched a resounding victory in Assam's assembly elections, securing 37 seats and maintaining a lead in 65 of the total 126 constituencies. In what marks the alliance's third consecutive term in power, the BJP itself claimed 30 seats and is ahead in 52 others. Meanwhile, allies like the Bodoland People's Front and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) also made significant gains.
Among the key figures retaining their assembly positions were several ministers from Himanta Biswa Sarma's cabinet. For instance, Pijush Hazarika secured Jagiroad with an impressive margin of over 93,000 votes. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog continues to represent Golaghat, having retained the seat for the sixth consecutive term.
Newly formed constituencies due to recent delimitation, such as Tangla, saw victories for the BJP, reflecting its strong standing in the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself established a dominant lead in Jalukbari. With these results, the NDA remains firmly positioned to influence the upcoming political landscape in Assam.
