National Security Advisor Ajit Doval engaged in discussions with Vietnam's President To Lam on Tuesday, aiming to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Vietnam. The meeting occurred shortly after Lam landed in New Delhi for his inaugural state visit since assuming office earlier this month.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold extensive talks with President Lam on Wednesday, exploring potential advancements in bilateral ties across sectors such as trade, defence, and critical technology. The discussion also touched on regional issues, particularly regarding West Asia and the South China Sea.

President Lam's visit underscores vital aspects of defence cooperation, notably in maritime security. Following last year's agreement to establish a submarine search and rescue framework, both nations are poised to further enhance their collaboration in defence industries. President Droupadi Murmu is also expected to meet Lam during his stay, with additional visits planned to Bodh Gaya and Mumbai.
