In the escalating political tension in Jammu and Kashmir, PDP leader Waheed Para has accused the National Conference of diverting attention from pressing issues by focusing on the Rajya Sabha elections. Para labeled NC's concerns as a ploy to overlook matters such as the contentious attachment of the Sirajul Uloom school under the UAPA.
The National Conference had claimed the PDP aided the BJP during the Rajya Sabha polls, where NC and BJP secured three and one seat, respectively. Attributing the loss to cross-voting, Para asserted that NC's focus on the elections deflected from the erasure of Urdu from official records and the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration's disintegration.
Para refuted NC's claims, emphasizing PDP's unconditional support even when excluded from alliances. He urged the NC to prioritize governance and stability in the region over political squabbles, stressing that unity is crucial against broader agendas seeking to fracture electoral stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
