TVK chief Vijay is poised to meet Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Wednesday, aiming to officially stake his claim to form the state government, according to party sources.
Having left his Chennai residence, Vijay plans to meet the Governor at 3.30 pm. On Tuesday, he sent an email to Lok Bhavan declaring his intention to lead, backed by TVK's 108 seats in the 234-member assembly, and expressed confidence in proving a majority.
Vijay has requested the swearing-in ceremony to be held at 11.30 am on May 7 at Nehru Stadium. Police have confirmed that arrangements for this event are in progress.
