The political aspirations of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief, Vijay, face hurdles as he is set to delay taking the oath as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister due to insufficient legislative support. Sources report that Vijay's party has not yet confirmed the necessary numbers to form a stable government.

TVK made a striking debut in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls by securing 108 seats, falling short of the 118-seat majority mark necessary to govern. With Vijay expected to vacate one of two seats he won, TVK's effective strength will reduce to 107. Meanwhile, Congress has extended support with its five MLAs, yet the partnership remains five seats short of a majority.

In a bid to strengthen his coalition, Vijay met with Tamil Nadu's Governor, Rajendra Arlekar, seeking recognition to form the government. TVK has also initiated discussions with AIADMK to possibly bolster its numbers. The shifting political landscape led DMK representatives to criticize Congress, deeming its support of TVK as politically short-sighted and destabilizing.
