The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Deputy Coordinator, KP Munusamy, on Wednesday, unequivocally dismissed the possibility of any alliance with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He emphasized that AIADMK would not support TVK's chief, actor-turned-politician Vijay, under any circumstances.
TVK spectacularly debuted in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls, winning 108 of the 234 seats, yet remaining ten seats short of an outright majority. Vijay's decision to vacate one of his two constituencies further reduces TVK's effective legislative strength to 107. Despite this, TVK secured backing from five Congress MLAs, as Congress pivoted from their original DMK alliance.
Amidst ongoing political maneuverings, Vijay's swearing-in as Chief Minister is delayed as he consolidates support to surpass the majority threshold. As verified figures are pending, the state Governor has expressed doubts over TVK's current numbers. Earlier, Vijay met with Governor Rajendra Arlekar; nevertheless, the Governor proceeded to dissolve the legislative assembly effective May 5, post-election outcomes.
