In a shocking incident shortly after the assembly poll verdict, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari's aide, Chandranath Rath, was killed in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. Adhikari describes the killing as 'cold-blooded murder' and suggests it was premeditated following reconnaissance.
The attack, which happened at Madhyamgram, has intensified political tensions. Motorcycle-borne assailants reportedly intercepted Rath's vehicle, shooting him at point-blank range before fleeing, according to initial reports. Adhikari condemned the incident and called for a detailed investigation by DGP Siddhnath Gupta.
Adhikari cautioned against jumping to conclusions about the perpetrators, urging BJP workers to remain calm. He highlighted ongoing violence against party workers, while confirming he discussed the attack with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Nabin.
