Zoram People's Movement Triumphs in Aizawl, H Lalremtluanga Takes Mayoral Helm

H Lalremtluanga has been inaugurated as Aizawl's new Mayor with a sweeping win for the Zoram People's Movement in the recent municipal elections. R Lalawmpuii assumes the role of Deputy Mayor, completing ZPM's ascendancy in Aizawl's 19-seat municipal corporation.

In a momentous swearing-in ceremony, H Lalremtluanga of the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) took office as the new Mayor of Aizawl Municipal Corporation on Thursday.

Alongside him, R Lalawmpuii was inducted as Deputy Mayor, with the ceremony witnessing the oath-taking of 17 other newly elected corporators, including four Executive Corporators. The ceremony was presided over by Aizawl Deputy Commissioner Lalhriatpuia.

In recent municipal polls, ZPM secured a landslide victory by winning 17 out of 19 seats, while rival parties MNF and Congress barely made a mark. Notably, the BJP contested 11 seats but failed to win any.
