Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday paid tributes to the Indian Army on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, saying that the operation serves as a powerful symbol of national resolve, preparedness, and strength, and added that it sends a message to the world that the ''new India will not compromise on its sovereignty''. In a press statement issued, Thakur recalled the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam in 2025, saying that the entire nation was outraged at that time, ''but under the decisive and strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India chose to crush terrorism at its very root''. ''The precision and coordination with which Indian soldiers destroyed nine terrorist hideouts and eliminated over 100 terrorists in just 22 minutes has set a new global standard for modern military operations,'' he said. He further said that today, India is not only vigilant on its borders, but is also becoming self-sufficient and empowered to meet its own defence needs. ''The valour and dedication of the armed forces are the foundation on which the nation's security and progress rest. Today is a day to express gratitude to those brave soldiers who, with the spirit of the nation, risked their lives and gave a befitting reply to the country's enemies,'' the former chief minister said. ''The success of Operation Sindoor continues to inspire us that when the nation's leadership is courageous, and the morale of the Army is high, no challenge can shake the unwavering willpower as strong as the Himalayas,'' he added.
