Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Friday asserted that after the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Poll, the state will be free of the Congress and Samajwadi Party. In a post on X in Hindi, Maurya attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, alleging that during the last general election, the two misled people by claiming the reservation would be abolished. ''The duo of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and SP 'bahadur' Akhilesh Yadav committed the great sin of misleading the public in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by falsely claiming the Constitution and reservations would be abolished. Had this propaganda not been spread, both parties would have barely been able to open their accounts in Uttar Pradesh,'' he said. Maurya claimed that now that their ''lies'' were exposed, ''the state will be free of the Congress and SP.'' He added that under the ''charismatic leadership of the successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ''lotus'' will bloom in Uttar Pradesh, just like it did in Assam and West Bengal.
