Himanta Biswa Sarma has been inaugurated as Assam's chief minister for a second term, solidifying the third consecutive BJP-led government in the region. The swearing-in ceremony, a grand event attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and numerous BJP dignitaries, took place at the Veterinary Ground in Khanapara, Guwahati.
Alongside Sarma, four MLAs also took their oaths of office. The impressive NDA victory secured 102 out of 126 seats in the assembly, continuing BJP's stronghold in Assam. The coalition comprised BJP's 82 seats, and its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People's Front, each winning 10 seats.
Expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi and BJP leadership, Sarma promised progress and prosperity for Assam. He stressed a focus on development, attributing the party's success to the dedication of BJP workers and leadership guidance. The new government aims to elevate Assam's growth trajectory.
