The newly-formed TVK government in Tamil Nadu, headed by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, marked a notable legislative victory on Wednesday by securing a trust vote in the Assembly. Amid accusations of horse-trading and internal rifts, the government won with a decisive 144:22 majority.
The trust vote saw pivotal support from 25 rebel AIADMK MLAs, defying their party directive and contributing to TVK's victory. In response, DMK, the primary opposition, exited the proceedings, while accusations flew concerning the stability and ethical integrity of the TVK government.
The Assembly session was marked by intense debate, revealing cracks within the AIADMK, and contrasting political strategies as the TVK government managed to consolidate its administrative stance, promising sustained welfare initiatives.
