The controversy led to Brazil's currency devaluing by over 2%, closing above 5 per U.S. dollar for the first time this month. The Bovespa stock index also took a hit, closing 1.8% lower. The report claims an audio message from Flavio Bolsonaro requested installment payments for the film's production.

Bolsonaro admitted that Vorcaro had agreed to finance the movie, which he described as a 'private sponsorship' without any reciprocal benefits. Daniel Vorcaro is currently facing legal issues linked to fraudulent activities at Banco Master, which the central bank liquidated in November.
