Fuel Price Surge: Global Tensions Trigger Economic Ripples

Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi cited global crude price hikes amid geopolitical conflicts for India's fuel surge, whilst Prime Minister Modi takes steps to ease the burden. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi criticizes the government's handling, labeling price hikes as 'extortion'. Global tensions have pushed crude prices over USD 100 per barrel.

Sanjay Saraogi, President of Bihar BJP, attributed the surge in fuel prices to rising global crude oil costs resulting from international conflicts, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken measures to alleviate the impact on citizens. Speaking to ANI, Saraogi emphasized the worldwide effects of ongoing geopolitical tensions on fuel prices.

"The escalating war involving Israel, Iran, and the US has driven crude prices upward, prompting many countries to increase petrol and diesel costs," commented Saraogi. He noted that despite the crisis, Prime Minister Modi had removed the special excise duty to mitigate losses for petroleum firms and lessen citizens' burdens.

As tensions persist, Modi urged citizens to reduce fuel consumption, even setting an example by cutting his own use. Simultaneously, the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, accused Modi of mishandling the situation, terming price hikes as 'extortion', with the Centre's Rs 3 per litre increase indicative of broader missteps.
