Majithia Accuses Punjab Government of 'Democracy Murder'

Bikram Singh Majithia, a prominent Shiromani Akali Dal leader, has leveled serious allegations against the Punjab government, accusing it of misusing police powers to manipulate upcoming local body elections. He has termed the alleged actions as a 'murder of democracy' and called for accountability from the authorities.

Addressing his supporters in the Majitha constituency, Majithia alleged that his wife, MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia, and other women party workers faced misconduct from a Deputy Superintendent of Police. He has demanded the officer's immediate suspension and urged the state election commission to intervene promptly.

Majithia accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party of pressuring officials to obstruct Akali Dal candidates by delaying necessary certifications. His appeals reverberated among Akali workers, who pledged to resist any perceived high-handedness in the upcoming civic polls set for May 26.
