Stone-pelting in Delhi's Bindapur following AAP MLA's protest over Pandav Kumar murder case

AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha's hunger strike in Delhi's Bindapur area was disrupted, leading to protests and alleged stone-pelting, over the alleged police shooting of 21-year-old Pandav Kumar.

Police in the Dwarka district had to face protests and alleged stone-pelting in Delhi's Bindapur area on Friday after AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha was stopped from sitting on a hunger strike, seeking justice for Pandav Kumar, who was allegedly shot by a police personnel last month, sources said.

A senior police officer told PTI that they were verifying all the facts.

According to sources, Jha, along with several AAP leaders and supporters, had gathered in Bindapur to stage an indefinite protest over the death of 21-year-old Pandav Kumar, who was allegedly shot dead by a Delhi Police head constable on April 26 in southwest Delhi following an altercation after he allegedly asked his caste.

The sources said Jha and several protesters were removed from the protest site as tensions escalated in the area. Soon after, some people in the crowd allegedly pelted stones, prompting a deployment of heavy police force in the locality to maintain law and order.

Pandav Kumar, a delivery executive from Bihar, was allegedly shot by an off-duty Delhi Police personnel in Jaffarpur Kalan area on April 26, triggering political outrage and protests.
