CPI(M) Criticizes ED Raids in Kerala as Politically Driven

A leader from the Communist Party of India (Marxist), M A Baby, has condemned the recent enforcement directorate (ED) raids on residences linked to former Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, describing them as politically motivated.

Baby, while addressing reporters in Delhi, expressed confidence that the public would see the raids as a partisan tactic. Meanwhile, another CPI(M) leader, P Jayarajan, suggested that these actions were part of a collaborative effort by the Congress and BJP.

The ED action follows allegations of financial misconduct involving Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd, with scrutiny particularly focused on payments to Vijayan's daughter, Veena. CPI(M) officials maintain that her firm's contractual dealings were lawful and that the accusations lack evidence.

Several CPI(M) voices warn that these moves represent an attempt to undermine the party's influence in Kerala. M V Govindan accused the central government of fabricating charges, pointing to a previous Delhi High Court decision dismissing similar claims.
