Tamil Nadu's School Education Minister, Rajmohan, today reinforced the state government's firm opposition to the National Education Policy (NEP) and the NEET exam, moments after launching the admission drive for the 2026-27 academic year at Dhanakodi Middle School, Chennai. The minister confidently maintained the sufficiency of the state's traditional two-language policy.
Speaking to the media, Rajmohan stated, 'Tamil Nadu will perpetuate its State Education Policy, ensuring the continuity of the two-language system.' His comments underscore the state's ongoing legal challenge against NEET.
During the inauguration ceremony, Rajmohan, joined by School Education Department Secretary Chandramohan and other officials, distributed uniforms and textbooks to mark the drive, setting an ambitious enrollment target of four lakh students. The minister outlined plans to improve school infrastructure and child safety, emphasizing toilet accessibility and addressing schools with insufficient teaching staff.
