Amidst rising inflation and global economic turmoil, Himachal Pradesh's Public Works and Urban Development Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, has called for urgent intervention by the Central government. Addressing ANI on Thursday, Singh highlighted the steady increase in prices of essential commodities, urging for strategic alternatives to ease the burden on citizens.
Singh emphasized the widening gap between the rupee and the dollar, noting its adverse effects on oil imports—largely paid in dollars—and the broader economy. He argued for concrete government action, suggesting diversification of oil sources, including from Russia, to stabilize prices and support domestic economic conditions.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India's longest-serving leader, Singh acknowledged the achievement while also urging an evaluation of the government's performance against public expectations. He further discussed Nehru's nation-building legacy, drawing contrasts with current circumstances, and called for effective traffic management around the popular Atal Tunnel to ensure smooth travel for tourists.
