U.S. President Donald Trump declared the U.S. does not need a deal to obtain enriched uranium from Iran, stating it could be secured immediately if desired. Trump also mentioned no interest in meeting Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei but left open the possibility of future negotiations with respect.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that Washington does not require a deal with Iran to access enriched uranium from the country.
'We could obtain it right now. I don't think they could stop us if we wanted, but there's no reason to. It's entombed,' he noted to reporters, from the Oval Office.
Trump further mentioned he does not wish to meet Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei but added that if a deal were reached between Washington and Tehran, a meeting could occur, emphasizing, 'If it happened ... I'd be respectful.'
