In a significant political move, Trichy Member of Parliament Durai Vaiko engaged in discussions with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay at the CM's residence in Chennai. The Thursday meeting was pivotal as Vaiko presented a memorandum detailing strategic demands aimed at uplifting the socio-economic framework of the Trichy Parliamentary constituency. The agenda was comprehensive, covering aspects of infrastructure, industrial expansion, and agrarian welfare.
Central to Vaiko’s memorandum was the proposal to establish a distinct Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation based in Trichy and the official declaration of Trichy as the state's second capital. Additional recommendations included the initiation of a metro rail network to enhance urban mobility and the creation of a University City bolstering educational and research infrastructure. On the industrial front, Vaiko put forth plans to transform the Trichy-Manapparai SIPCOT area into a major semiconductor and electronics manufacturing hub, alongside infrastructure developments such as a modern dry port and an expanded runway at Trichy International Airport.
In the healthcare sector, Vaiko advocated for shifting the Srirangam Government Hospital to a larger premises and constructing new Mother and Child Health facilities. Additional demands encompassed the establishment of a new substation, lifting the cotton seed cess, and state-wide eradication of invasive trees to improve agricultural productivity. Addressing these issues, Vaiko affirmed his dedication to the constituency's development, recognizing the CM's open and positive reception of the proposed initiatives.
