Durai Vaiko, Member of Parliament for Trichy, made a significant call for development during a meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay in Chennai this Thursday. The MP submitted a memorandum that outlined strategic demands for advancing the Trichy Parliamentary constituency, focusing on areas like farmers' welfare, industrial growth, and public infrastructure projects.

Key items in the proposal included establishing a separate Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation in Trichy, designating the city as the state's second capital, and launching a metro rail network that spans three corridors in Trichy. Further requests aimed at bolstering education and research involved creating a University City in Trichy and transforming the Trichy-Manapparai SIPCOT area into a major semiconductor hub.

The memorandum also addressed healthcare improvements, proposing the relocation of Srirangam Government Hospital and the construction of a Mother and Child Health building in Pudukkottai. Vaiko pushed for advancements in energy infrastructure, agricultural policies, and eradication programs for invasive plant species. The Chief Minister received these proposals positively and promised thorough review and appropriate actions.
