In a major announcement aimed at fortifying India's border defenses, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday unveiled plans for a 'quadrangular foolproof security grid'. This initiative marks a move towards 'smart borders', with pilot projects set to launch at seven to eight strategic locations.

Speaking at the Lankamura Border Outpost, Shah stressed the importance of modernizing border security through advanced technologies such as drones and smart fencing. The Central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is steering efforts to integrate local administration with cutting-edge security measures, particularly where the Border Security Force (BSF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) operate.

Highlighting the comprehensive approach of the new security strategy, Shah emphasized the necessity of collaboration between district officials, law enforcement, and border personnel to establish an impregnable security environment. The initiative also involves infrastructure improvements at border outposts to support security personnel effectively.
