Ghosh Dastidar, representing a faction of 20 MPs, has officially requested separate seating in the Lok Sabha, citing 'maladministration, lawlessness, and unemployment' in West Bengal as driving forces behind her decision to part ways with the TMC.

Addressing allegations of opportunism, the veteran politician stated her steadfast commitment to integrity, harking back to her 40-year political journey prior to Mamata Banerjee's tenure as Chief Minister. She underscored her dissatisfaction with the TMC's governance in West Bengal as her primary impetus for separation, dismissing the critiques as inconsequential to her resolve.
