Facing right-wing contender Abelardo De La Espriella on June 21, the election contrasts Cepeda's vision of deepening economic and social reforms against De La Espriella's business-centric and security-focussed policies. In the first electoral round, De La Espriella led with a 670,000-vote advantage but failed to secure an outright majority.
