Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that arson attacks on property connected to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in May last year had been carried out by Ukrainian nationals and that there was no need to look for "the Kremlin's hand" everywhere. A Ukrainian man was found guilty on Monday by a British court of carrying out arson attacks on the properties on behalf of a mystery figure he knew only as "EL Money". The BBC reported that Russia was behind the attacks.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing in Moscow on Thursday: "Have you caught the Ukrainian citizens who set fire to the Starmer residence? Call a spade a spade. Say that they were Ukrainians. There’s no need to look for the Kremlin’s hand in everything."
