Patryk Stępień, social activist, president of the Center for Social and Cultural Initiatives, wrote to the mayor of the city. He wants to ban circus performances with animals. What will the president's decision be?

Numerous countries, such as the Netherlands, Austria, Singapore, Israel and many others as well as polish cities and municipalities, among others Łódź, Bielsko-Biała, Kołobrzeg, Słupsk, appealed to the authorities for a ban on circus performances with animals.

Patryk opposes the bad treatment of animals in circuses and similar places where animals are used for the purpose of human entertainment. He considers ethically reprehensible forcing animals to work on performances. In addition, circus shows using animals are devoid of educational values and potentially harmful to children's development, which was confirmed by the Psychology Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences on March 2015.

Will there still be consent to the ill-treatment of animals in circuses, forcing them to perform activities inconsistent with their nature by means of barbaric methods of dressage, a shameful way of transporting them?

Mr President, these performances have nothing to do with art, a circus can be an art if it adopts changing ethical and artistic canons and becomes a place for presenting extraordinary human abilities. No art can feed on anyone's harm. - says Patryk Stępień.

What will the decision be? We will find out soon about this.
