Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba has resigned from his position and has also given up his position in the Democratic Alliance, according to local media reports. Mashaba had earlier said that he would leave the party if it is taken over by "right-wing elements."
“I’m gravely concerned that the DA I signed up to, is no longer the DA that emerged from the weekend,” Mashaba said in a media statement on Monday.
