Central Government declares Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) as an 'unlawful association'

Union Home Ministry said in a statement, "Central Government hereby declares the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) as an 'unlawful association.'"

According to the Home Ministry, SIMI had potential to create communal disharmony, and its activities were prejudicial to the security of the country. Last time it was banned in 2014 by the previous Govt, the ban has been extended for another 5 years
