At least 20 needy families will get their own houses at the hands of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla under a social service initiative in South Goa on June 15. Talking to PTI on Friday, Goa Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar said the houses have been built under the banner of Balaram Charitable Foundation and no government funds were used for the initiative.
Birla will hand over keys of these houses to needy 20 families at a function scheduled to be held at Canacona in South Goa on June 15.
People from the surrounding areas donated money for the construction of these houses under the 'Shram Dham' concept and they also put in physical work at the sites for a few hours, Tawadkar said.
