Death toll from Brazil downpours climbs to 83

Heavy rains battering Brazil's southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul have killed at least 83 people, authorities said on Monday, up from 78 reported a day earlier.

Rio Grande do Sul's civil defense authority said 111 people were still missing, while nearly 122,000 people have been displaced.
