Delhi's Water Minister Atishi has raised serious allegations against Haryana, accusing the neighboring state of failing to release 1,050 cusecs of water through the Munank canal, which has exacerbated Delhi's ongoing water crisis.

In a press conference, Atishi highlighted that the capital typically receives about 995 cusecs of water during summer when Haryana complies. However, recent figures show a sharp decline, with Delhi receiving only 840 cusecs on June 7, a significant drop from the expected amount. Such reductions are partly attributed to evaporation losses, yet Atishi maintains Haryana isn't fulfilling its water-sharing obligations.

The Supreme Court has termed the situation an 'existential problem' and called for Himachal Pradesh to release 137 cusecs of surplus water to aid Delhi and Haryana. Despite this, Atishi remains skeptical, pointing out that Haryana's reduced supply continues to thwart the capital's water needs, rendering the court's directive only partially effective.
