Delhi Faces Water Crisis: Minister Calls for Immediate Action

Delhi Water Minister Atishi has requested an urgent meeting with Lt Governor V K Saxena regarding the insufficient water supply from Haryana via the Munak Canal. Delhi is receiving significantly less water than required, risking a worsening water situation across the city in the coming days.

Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Sunday urgently requested a meeting with Lt Governor V K Saxena to address the critical issue of water supply from Haryana through the Munak Canal.

In a post on X, Minister Atishi revealed that Delhi is supposed to receive 1,050 cusecs of water via the canal, but the supply has dwindled to merely 840 cusecs. This reduction is threatening the operations of seven water treatment plants in the capital.

Highlighting the urgency, Atishi warned that Delhi's water situation could deteriorate within 1-2 days if the issue is not resolved immediately. She emphasized the need for the Lt Governor, as the central government's representative, to intervene and rectify the situation amid rising temperatures and increasing water demands.
