A major fire erupted in a restaurant in central Kolkata's Park Street area on Tuesday, causing widespread panic among local residents, an official reported. Fortunately, no casualties have been recorded.

According to the official, the fire was first observed around 10:50 am, prompting the deployment of at least nine fire tenders to combat the blaze. A disaster management team was also quickly mobilized to the scene.

The restaurant, situated next to a multi-storied building, saw thick smoke and flames engulfing its higher floors. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control, although the cooling-off process continues. Fire and Emergency Services Minister Sujit Bose stated that a forensic investigation will be conducted to determine the fire's cause and verify safety compliance by the restaurant owner.
