Empowering Communities: CBRN Preparedness Workshop Highlights Safety and Coordination

A collaborative CBRN awareness workshop organized by the National Disaster Management Authority and Palghar District Disaster Management Authority highlighted preparedness for nuclear and chemical emergencies. It featured key stakeholders and experts conducting interactive sessions and practical exercises. The workshop aimed to enhance community actions and medical management strategies for CBRN incidents.

A comprehensive CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) awareness workshop organized by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Palghar District Disaster Management Authority concluded on Friday, an official said.

The workshop aimed at sharpening preparedness for potential nuclear and chemical emergencies witnessed active participation from key stakeholders, including representatives from the Tarapur Nuclear Power Plant and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.

Key topics discussed included the benefits of nuclear power, community actions during off-site emergencies, medical management strategies for CBRN incidents, and practical exercises on radiation management. Expert-led interactive sessions featured prominent figures such as Abhishek Sharma from NDMA, Senior Advisor Rajnish Piplani, and Commander Santosh Bahadur Singh from NDRF.

Collector Gobind Bodke, along with 50 other attendees from revenue, disaster management, police, civil defence, health, and rural development departments, as well as villagers, participated in the workshop, the official added.
