Mumbai is grappling with widespread disruption to public transport services caused by incessant and heavy rains that began on Friday morning. Numerous areas in the city recorded over 15 mm of rainfall within an hour, leading to significant waterlogging and traffic diversions in low-lying regions such as Sion.

In the western suburbs, waterlogging persisted at the Andheri subway between Andheri and Jogeshwari railway stations. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a 'Nowcast' warning at 8 am, predicting intense rain spells likely to occur in select districts of Mumbai over the next three to four hours.

Forecasts indicate continued moderate to heavy rainfall in the city and suburbs, with isolated areas expected to witness very heavy rain over the next 24 hours. A high tide of 3.87 meters at 4.09 pm could exacerbate flooding risks. The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has redirected three bus routes due to waterlogging at Sion, while local train services operated by Western and Central Railway reported delays despite the lack of track waterlogging.
